Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann (Festival of music in Ireland) has been running for over 60 years across Ireland. The goal of the Fleadh Cheoil has been to establish standards in Irish traditional music through competition. There are various stages to the competition. In Ireland there are county and provincial competitions leading to the All-Ireland Fleadh. Also it attracts overseas competitors as Britain and North America have regional stages of qualification for the All-Ireland. The Fleadh has developed as a mainly competitive event but it attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year. The fleadh is an exciting week encompassing competitions ,sessions, ceili bands, concerts, pageants, marching bands, drama and exhibitions all saluting the best of Irish Traditional culture. The branding for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2015 evolved from a concept rooted in tradition and place, yet presented in a vibrant, contemporary form. The design process began with the recognition that the Fleadh is not just a music competition but a cultural gathering steeped in Irish heritage—so the logo needed to reflect both the energy of Irish traditional music and the identity of the host location. The logo marks the event’s spirit through dynamic forms and a sense of movement, symbolising dance, instruments and communal celebration. When selecting the typeface, a clear, robust sans-serif was chosen to balance readability with character: the font carries strength and modernity, anchoring the brand against more decorative elements without competing with the cultural motifs. The brand colours were carefully selected to echo the vividness of traditional Irish culture while remaining bold and usable across print and digital media. Deep greens and lively oranges, paired with crisp white space, give the identity a festive yet grounded appearance. The outcome is a logo that feels both contemporary and rooted - honouring the deep traditions of the Fleadh while presenting the festival in a fresh, inclusive light.
